Mary Catherine Battles

Mary Catherine Battles, 79, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loving family and friends on Thursday November 22, 2012. Funeral services will be held 11:00am EST Monday November 26th in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N, Phenix City, Alabama, 36867, with the Reverend Jerry Horner officiating. Interment will be in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Beulah, AL, immediately following the service. The family will receive friends Monday 1 hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Battles was born November 27, 1932 in Jackson Gap, Alabama, daughter of the late Olin Harris and Atha Boone Harris. She was retired from the Love Dental Clinic at Ft. Benning, GA. and a member of the Lakewood Baptist Church in Phenix City where she was also a member of the Sweet Spirits. She was also very active with the Central Activities Center,

the Russell County Meals on Wheels program and the Red Hats Club of Phenix City. Other than her parents Mrs. Battles is preceded in death by her husband Jerry D. Battles and son, Donald Battles.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Martha Ann Battles of Phenix City, brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Kathy Harris of Phenix City, Heflin and Horlene Harris of Ft. Worth ,TX., sister, Cleo Reddish of Lake, FL.,granddaughters, Leslie Pheanis and husband, Travis of Phenix City, Jennifer Stokes and husband Troy of Tullahoma, TN., 5 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including Freedom Home Care of Columbus Ga., caregivers, Lisa, Precious, Patricia and Sue.
