Miles W. "Bill" Story, 62 of Columbus, GA passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Medical Center. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00 A.M. EST Monday July 23, 2012 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends Monday from 9:30 until 10:30 am at the funeral home.
Mr. Story was born April 26, 1950 in Great Bend, Kansas. He is the son of the late William Lee and Essa Mae Sohl Story. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict in which he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2nd Award, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960 Device, 2 Overseas Bars (Sharpshooter).
He was pentecostal by faith. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Billie Miller.
Survivors include his children, Kathy Lindner and husband Eric, Carol Griffin and husband, Scott, William Story and wife, Jennie all of Columbus, GA, sisters, LaDonna Blakely of Kansas, Devila Meire of Arizona, brother, James "Jimmy" Story of Kansas, seven grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
