

SFC (US Army Ret) Oscar James Love, Sr. February 4, 1933- April 24, 2015 Phenix City, AL- SFC (US Army Ret) Oscar James Love, Sr. 82, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015 at Roosevelt Rehabilitation Hospital in Warm Springs, GA. He was born February 4, 1933 in Stanfield, NC, to his late parents James and Agnes McClain Love. James served his country proudly and was a Veteran of both Korea and Vietnam. He was a Christian by faith and attended Seale Rd. Baptist Church. He loved his family and friends and will be missed by all. The family will receive guests for visitation Tuesday, April 28, 2015, 5:00-7:00 pm at Striffler-Hamby, 3770 Hwy. 431 North, Phenix City, AL. A Celebration of James' Life will be Wednesday, April 29, 2015 12:30 pm in Striffler-Hamby Chapel followed by a 2:00 pm Committal Service with Full Military Honors and Interment at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Pastor R. G. Blackwell Officiating. Along with his parents, James is preceded in death by one sister, one brother, and grandchild, Leann Love. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Wanda Love; one daughter, Renee (Rodger) Blanton of Phenix City, AL; three sons, Douglas (Diane) Love of Phenix City, AL, Thomas Love of Columbus, GA, and James (Norma) Love, Jr. of Phenix City, AL; two grandchildren, Jonathon Love, and Dustin Blanton; and one sister, Willie Jean (Wade) Kevin of NC; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and staff of RWS Acute Care Rehab Center in Warm Springs, GA, and to Columbus Hospice for the exceptional care they received.
