A/2C Richard Thomas Fleming, 79 of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. EST Friday January 26, 2018 in Lakewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City, AL. Burial with military honors will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Serving as pall bearers will be his grandsons.
Mr. Fleming was born September 24, 1938 in New Bedford, Massachusetts; son of the late Owen A. and Josephine Rogers Fleming. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was retired from Civil Service at Fort Benning, GA. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Engle Fleming, sisters, Irene Bowers and Helen Malone.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Faye Fleming of Columbus, GA, son, Anthony "Tony" Fleming and wife Maritza of Columbus, GA, son, Michael Fleming of Nashville, TN, daughter, Angela Jones and husband, John of Mauk, GA, son, Stephen Fleming of Cataula, GA, grandchildren, Mariaelena, Vincenzo, Cassandra, Michelle, Adam, Kyle, Matthew, Gabriel and Allora; great grandchildren, Frankie, Angel, Gracie and Lane.
