SFC (Ret) Stephen Mitchell Garner

SFC (Ret) Stephen Mitchell Garner, 64 of Fort Benning, Georgia passed away Sunday April 28, 2019 at the Columbus Piedmont Medical Center. Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday May 2, 2019 at Fort Mitchell national Cemetery with Rev. Barry Danner officiating.

Mr. Garner was born May 31, 1954 in Griffin, Georgia; son of the late Hubert and Evelyn Carter Garner. He was retired from the U.S. Army and a member of First Assembly of God Church in Phenix City, AL. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Dana Michelle Turner.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Jackie Garner, son, Christopher Garner (Leanna) and daughter, Wendy Garner; eight grandchildren, Courtney Powell, Ariel Walker (Ian), Kevin Powell (Megan), Sarah Gauthier (Alex), Christopher Garner (Savannah), Jackson Garner, Cameron Powell, Aiden Griswold, six great grandchildren.
