

In an obituary, we muse about someone recently deceased. Today, we share the life of our amazing mother who was our dad’s bride. We mourn the loss of a special soul. Thelma “Candy” Estelle Dabney was a larger-than-life Alabama lady, born November 20, 1951. Her hallmark was kindness with a hint of sarcasm and a heaping dose of genuine, heartfelt love. Candy lit up a room with her humor and made a safe space for all with her compassion. Candy faced a lifetime of medical challenges with determination and courage. Time and again, Candy rallied and faced adversity with grit. Her heart was pure and all-loving. Her wit was sharp and truly joyful. Frank Dabney and Candy Conway met while working at Kerr-McGee and were married for 47 years. That union created two extraordinary daughters, the triumph of their love, Mandy and “Frankie” are Candy’s legacy. Candy was predeceased by her sister, Sally Frances Mitchener, and her brother, Francis Livingston Conway, Jr. She was also pre-deceased by her parents, Francis Livingston Conway Sr., and her mother, Sallie Pearl Conway. She leaves to celebrate her life: Frank, her husband, and daughters Mandy Dabney Loreman (Tim), Frances “Frankie” Marian Dabney.
