
William K. Meredith, 88 of Phenix City, Alabama passed away August 8, 2012 in Columbus, Georgia. Funeral services with military honors will be held Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. EST in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL with Rev. James Allen officiating. A private burial will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Meredith was born March 31, 1924 in Lee County, Alabama, son of the late Archie Tilbert and Willie Collins Meredith. He was retired from Sunshine Biscuit Company with 27 years of service, served in the US Army during WWII, was a member of the American Legion Post 135 and was Assembly of God by faith.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Frances Meredith of Phenix City, AL, son, Johnny Meredith and wife Rita of Phenix City, AL, grandchildren, Lisa Burditt and husband James of Fortson, GA, Michael Meredith and wife Joy of Millbrook, AL, Amanda Cox and husband Keith of Smiths Station, AL, great grandchildren, Jay and Lacey Burditt, Deanna and Jennifer Meredith, Montgomery and Makala Meredith, great great grandchild, Kolton Burditt, sister, Olene Vinson, Pike County, AL, Bessie Freeman and husband John of Euless, TX, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
