

Wynnie Mae Bottoms, 77, of Phenix City, Alabama, died Monday August 1, 2011 at her home. Funeral services will be held 10:00am Thursday August 4th in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Highway 431 N, Phenix City, AL., 36867, with the Reverend Aaron Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Gardens in Phenix City. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6pm until 8pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bottoms was born November 15, 1933 in Rankin County, MS., daughter of the late Alexander Overby and Flower Lee Cook Overby. She was formerly employed by Sandy’s Restaurant, formerly Choppy’s in Columbus, GA. and a Baptist by faith. She was a member of the Rebeka’s. Other than her parents, Mrs. Bottoms is preceded in death by her husband of more than 40 years, Tommie Lee Bottoms and sisters, Gladys Parks and Lucille Wilson.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane Black of Phenix City and Teresa Bankston of Seale, AL., brother, Charles “Bud” Overby of Puckett, MS., sisters, Marilyn Clark of Jackson, MS., and Thelma Murray of Fannin, MS., grandchildren, Angel, Megan and Josh Bankston, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
