Abel Cruz

In the late 1930's the Cruz family relocated to Tempe, AZ. Abel attended Tempe High School. One year prior to his high school graduation, Abel enlisted in the US Navy. He was stationed in Korea until 1955 when he returned to the states and he was Honorably discharged. He was a proud Sailor.

Abel met his loving and devoted wife, Lydia Orozco at Phoenix Christian Assembly Church. They were married on May 27,1978, and became a blended family, and together they raised 5 boys, John, Anthony, Paul, Alan and Eddie.

Abel worked in construction at the Palo Verde Plant and retired from the Local Union in 1993 at the age of 59. He loved camping and bow hunting, especially with his brothers Ernie & Art, and his nephew Bobby. He enjoyed target shooting at Usery Mountain Park in Mesa, AZ. He was a charter Member of Cactus Choya Bow Hunters Club, and he was proud to display his Archery trophies.

Abel was a loving and devoted Father, Husband, TaTa, and Uncle. Throughout his life he held an unwavering faith and love for The Lord, which he shared with all who surrounded him. His mission was to make sure everyone knew God and was saved.

Abel passed away January 22, 2021. He is now reunited with those that went before him. Abel was preceeded in death by: his parents, Pedro & Mary Cruz, Sisters: Viola Cruz Harkins, Teresa Cruz, Rachel Cruz Coffman,& Mary Cruz, Brothers Art Cruz and Ernie Cruz, and his Best Friend Fred.

Abel is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lydia Orozoco Cruz.

Sons: Tyson (Paula) Guerrero, John Cruz, Anthony (Roberta) Cruz, Paul Cruz, Alan Cruz & Eddie (Staci) Cruz and 20 Grandchildren

Brother: Clarence Cruz. Sisters: Patsy Cruz Mara, Esther Cruz Mullins. Sisters-in-law Pat Cruz, Rosie Cruz & many nieces, Nephews and Friends.

Funeral Service will be Saturday January 30, 2021 at 11 AM.
