Barbara was born on September 12, 1936 in La Junta, Colorado to Albert and Alma Ruby.
Barbara lived a life of service. Upon completing high school in Rocky Ford Colorado, she began a career as a XRay technician. It was shortly after that where she found her devotional calling, which led her to join the convent and become a nun with the sisters of Charity out of Cincinnati, Ohio. She remained in the convent for six years serving as a nurse.
Upon leaving the convent, she met the man of her dreams and later married him on November 24, 1971. Bob Finn was her love for life. It gives her family much comfort to know that she and he are finally reunited.
Barbara and Bob resided in Canon City Colorado where they raised their children Chris and Katie Finn. Barbara worked for the state of Colorado for 30 years as a social worker, specializing in helping at-risk youth.
Upon retirement in 2001, Barbara relocated to Phoenix, Arizona to be closer to her grandchildren. She spent much of her time in Arizona volunteering with St. Vincent de Paul. When she wasn’t volunteering, she was planning her next adventure with her grandchildren, her daughter and son, or her countless friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Al Ruby and Alma Yankey; her husband, Bob Finn; her sisters, Evelyn Pagano and Patricia Campbell; and countless dear friends and family members.
Barbara is survived by her two children, Christopher Finn of Scottsdale and Catherine Finn of Phoenix. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Tylor Alvarado (Adrian) of Phoenix, Delaney Finn of Scottsdale, and Carson Finn of Phoenix, as well as her great-grandson, Max Alvarado of Phoenix.
Barbara Finn spent every day of her life serving those around her, telling people, "God bless you," and loving every person she came across. Barbara was the only person we’ve ever met that truly never thought of themselves first -- she lived to make your day better.
Mom, you will be missed every second of every day. You showed us how to love, and now it’s our turn to carry on your legacy. It’s been a true honor to be your children and we know we were lucky enough to have the greatest mom ever. Thank you for everything. You will stay in our hearts forever. We love you.
