Callie Mae Jones

was born on February 15, 1943 to proud parents Mr. Mance and Audrey Greenwood Grissom, Sr.. She was one of nine children. Callie accepted Christ at an early age uniting with the Church of Christ under the leadership Bro. Eddie Brinkley. She attended school in Wharton, TX.

June 30, 1970, Callie married Mr. Milton Jones in Sierra Vista, CA. They moved to Phoenix, AZ in that same year.

Callie attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend T.C. Baker and taught Sunday school.

Early on, Callie Mae worked as a nurse’s aide for St. Luke’s Hospital. Later she worked as an office assistant for Lamar & Sons Construction. She enjoyed cooking, baking, making crafts and loved going to yard sales. Her trademark characteristic is that she loved children. Because of this, she became all the children‘s “Aunt Callie Mae”

She leaves to cherish her memory her Husband of 42 years Milton (Uncle Jack) Jones; a Son Shawn Robinson; three Sisters Susie Moore, Dorothy McClanahan, and Lucille Walker; one Brother Mance Grissom, Jr. all of Wharton, TX and Elder Ben Candler and Carl and Alice Candler of Phoenix, AZ. Four Sister’s-in-law Alice, Marilyn, Bobbi and Celestine Montgomery of CA. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Four siblings preceded her in death, Brothers Dennis and AJ Grissom, and Sisters Louvenia “Ruth” Neal and Evelyn Wallace of Wharton, TX.

Callie’s memory will be cherished by all.
