Daniel lived a fulfilling life as an accomplished performer for the distinguished Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández in Mexico City. He sought the need to establish Fiesta Mexicana Dance Co. in Chicago, IL (1974) and in Glendale, AZ (1995) and later founded the Drug Elimination Family Awareness Program, a nonprofit organization for at-risk youth in 1996. Daniel was committed to his ability to change the lives of others by utilizing the fine arts to promote higher education, accountability, and positive self-esteem. He was honored to have his dancers formally represent the City of Phoenix and for his trusted partnership with renowned Ballet Folclórico Nacional de México de Silvia Lozano. Daniel was compelled to provide guidance to those in need of support and was recognized by receiving the Cesar Chavez Diversity Award for Community Advocacy and the Freedoms Foundation National Community Award.
His admirable legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he loved. Daniel is preceded in death by his adored mother Carmina Rivero. He is survived by his wife Lorena Acosta, beloved sons Danny, David, Damian, Derrick Martinez, Adrian and Yazmin, 6 grandchildren, sister Elizabeth, brother David, dearest Uncle George and Aunt Elisa Tavera, many nieces and nephews, and treasured FMDC family.
