Dennis Owens Sr

Dennis Owens Sr. was born July 11, 1948 in Phoenix, Arizona. He departed this life Saturday, January, 24, 2015. He was one of three children, two boys and one girl. His parents, Walter Morrison and Geraldine Barefield and both siblings, preceded him in death, he spent most of his childhood in Phoenix, AZ and received his basic education. In 1967, he joined the United States Air Force. He served over five years in the United States Air force, prior to working for McGraw-Edison as an assembly technician.

During his time in the Air Force, Dennis met and later married Shirlan Aberdeen of Oxford, England. Shirlan later departed this life in 1998.

Dennis loved the church and his love for the church was known by the service he rendered. He served at Willow Grove Missionary Baptist Church, as well as Southern Avenue Missionary Church and his final destination back at Willow Grove Missionary Church and he remained a loyal faithful member up until his homegoing.

With the call of God coming on January 24, 2015, Dennis answered and leaves to cherish his memory, his three children: Melissa Bates, Charisse Owens and Dennis Owens Jr, of Phoenix, AZ; three stepchildren: Randolph Craig, Dawn Robbins and Jennifer Brotherton of Oxford England; nine grandchildren: Jommie Robbins, Corey Craig, Jasmine Robbins, Keera Craig, Taylor Teagues, Mezmari Owens, Monique Owens, Teagan Teagues, and Monica Owens, all of Phoenix, AZ; one great-grandchild: Alaila Campbell and a host of close family and friends.

Dennis was well known through the Christian community. He will be greatly missed. Life’s race well run, Life’s work well done, Life’s crown well worn, and now he rests
