

Dolores Moya Soltero, 85, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014, as a result of complications of Alzheimer’s disease, surrounded by her loving family. Dolores was born in Globe, AZ on October 29, 1928 to Angel and Teresa Moya (deceased). She graduated from Globe High School in 1946 and in 1949 married William Soltero Sr. (deceased); they divorced in 1967. Dolores moved from Globe to Phoenix in 1961 and shortly after began her 29 year career with the City of Phoenix, with most of those years in the City Manager’s Office as Support Services Supervisor. She enjoyed her job and she did it well. Many long lasting friendships were made during this time. Dolores retired from the City in 1992. In 1978 Jim Attebery and his children came into her life. That relationship has lasted a lifetime. Dolores loved to be on the go, loved to travel. During their retirement, she and Jim traveled to Alaska, Europe, Mexico, the Panama Canal, and many cities in the U.S. Dolores was an avid and dedicated physical fitness advocate and was always on the cutting edge of the latest trends. She enjoyed golf and was a regular at the Phoenix Open and of course, she and Jim were staunch fans of the Phoenix Suns and the Arizona Cardinals. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Angel and Theresa Moya, Sisters, Catherine Chacon and Leonarda Simon; brothers, Manuel, Angel, John, and Peter Moya and her beloved son William Soltero, Jr. Dolores is survived by Jim Attebery, of Globe, and his children, Jim (Shari) Attebery, Karen (Rod) Flickinger, Fred (Debbie) and Tom Santesteban. Her daughter Esther (Chris) Compton, son, Richard Soltero, Grandchildren, Doreena (Frank) Gracia, Brian (Annette) Lien, Jennifer (Pat Martin) Kerr, William Lien, Ian (Carina), Francesco (CJ) and Esteben Soltero, as well as ten great-grand children and countless nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister MaryEllen (Tony) Torrez of Williams. Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. (with visitation one hour prior) at the Resthaven Park Mortuary, 4310 E. Southern Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85042. Reception, with lunch, immediately following the services. Dolores will be forever loved and missed. Eternal rest grant unto her Oh Lord, and let Perpetual Light shine upon her.
