Fred Carl Noll

Fred was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This is where he developed his love for motorcycles, purchasing one of the first Harley’s off the assembly line. This is also where he met the love of his life, Lucille. They were married in West Allis, Wisconsin in 1950. Fred enlisted in the Navy in 1951 serving in the Korean Conflict. It was during this time that they welcomed their first child, Raymond. Fred later went on to join the Navel Reserves serving until 1958.

In 1962, Fred and Lucille moved their family to Phoenix, Arizona to join Lucille’s sister and her family. This is where Fred opened his first full-service gas station in South Phoenix. This would be his life’s work for the next 40 years. In 1964 they welcomed their daughter Cheryl to the family. During this time, Fred was actively involved in the South Phoenix Jaycees, St. Catherine’s parish, the Moose Lodge, and the Knights of Columbus.

After retiring, Fred and Lucille enjoyed traveling in their motorhome to visit family, attend NASCAR races, and spending time with their grandchildren. Fred was involved in the South Phoenix Adult Center and ran their BINGO program for many years, became a member of the 4th degree with the Knights and was in charge of the kitchen at the Moose Lodge. Fred was a BINGO addict until his passing and committed to service and helping others.

Fred was predeceased by his wife, Lucille, his parents, Clara and Carl Noll, his siblings, Walter Noll and Donna Waterman, his grandson, Justin Shumate and his great grandson, Loyal Mason. Fred is survived by his children, Ray Noll (Terrie), Cheryl Shumate (Billy), his grandchildren, Tami Shadd (Doug), Christopher Noll (Martha), Jason Noll (Valerie), Nicole Mason (Josh), and 7 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Moose Lodge #2072, 2401 E. South Mountain Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85042 beginning at 1:00pm.
