Hermenegilda Roman

Hermenegilda was born on April 13th, 1931 in Simon Bolivar, Durango, Mexico, the daughter of Francisco Rojas and Guadalupe Martinez.

Hermenegilda married Jose Cruz Roman Gomez in 1950 in Zacatecas, Mexico and remained married for 75 happy and love filled years raising a beautiful family of 13 children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved very dearly.

Hermenegilda enjoyed hobbies such as knitting, cross-stitching, embroidery, crocheting cooking, and handmaking flowers out of paper/crepe paper and from the leaves of the agave plant.

Hermenegilda was the best, most loving and caring mother and grandmother to her entire family. She was always present as a mother and grandmother, patient with everyone and anyone. She always made sure everyone was fed and taken care of, she has a big golden heart and was generous with everyone who knew her and even with those she didn’t know. Hermenegilda had a clean but hilarious sense of humor and found the funny side to anything she went through. One example of such can be told in a short story of her being on a phone call one day, as she was on this call she found herself scribbling on paper writing time for her to take down a phone number, she found herself laughing at herself as she had run out of space on the paper she was using to write said number down. Her spouse, Jose, then joined her laughing at her gigantic handwriting and told her she had ran out of space because she wrote the numbers as big as the tagging you see on walls outside. This and many other memories are shared by the family of moments where Hermenegilda was sure to find the funny in them and laugh alongside her family.

Remaining to cherish Hermenegilda’s memory are Jose Cruz Roman and her 12 loving children. Preceding Hermenegilda in death are her parents, Francisco Rojas and Guadalupe Martinez, along with her daughter Socorro Roman.

Hermenegilda Román, de 94 años, residente de Tempe, Arizona, falleció el 11 de julio de 2025 en su hogar, rodeada de sus queridos hijos y familiares.

Hermenegilda nació el 13 de abril de 1931 en Simón Bolívar, Durango, México, hija de Francisco Rojas y Guadalupe Martínez.

Hermenegilda se casó con José Cruz Román Gómez en 1950 en Zacatecas, México, y permanecieron casados durante 75 años felices y llenos de amor, criando una hermosa familia de 13 hijos y muchos nietos, bisnietos y tataranietos a quienes amaba profundamente.

A Hermenegilda le gustaban pasatiempos como tejer, bordar, tejer a crochet, cocinar y hacer flores a mano con papel crepé y hojas de agave.

Hermenegilda fue la mejor, más amorosa y atenta madre y abuela de toda su familia. Siempre estuvo presente como madre y abuela, paciente con todos. Siempre se aseguraba de que todos estuvieran bien alimentados y cuidados, tenía un gran corazón y era generosa con todos los que la conocían, incluso con los que no conocía. Hermenegilda tenía un sentido del humor limpio pero divertidísimo y le encontraba el lado gracioso a todo lo que le pasaba. Un ejemplo de ello es la breve historia de un día, mientras estaba en una llamada telefónica, y mientras tanto, se encontró garabateando en un papel, escribiendo "tiempo" para anotar un número de teléfono. Se rio de sí misma al no tener espacio en el papel. Su esposo, José, se unió a ella, riéndose de su enorme letra y le dijo que se había quedado sin espacio porque había escrito números tan grandes como las etiquetas que se ven en las paredes. Este y muchos otros recuerdos son compartidos por la familia, momentos en los que Hermenegilda encontraba la gracia y reía junto a su familia.

Quedan para atesorar la memoria de Hermenegilda José Cruz Román y sus 12 queridos hijos. A Hermenegilda le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Francisco Rojas y Guadalupe Martínez, junto con su hija Socorro Román.
