Hilda V Gamboa

Hilda Varela Gamboa, 104, a native of Arizona, passed away on July 4, 2017 in Chandler, AZ after living a very long blessed life. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She touched so many lives and will be greatly missed. Born on September 1, 1912 in Palo Verde, Arizona to the late Cresencio and Guadalupe Varela. Survivors include her son, Richard Ruiz (Anita) of Chandler, Arizona and numerous Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and Great Great-Grandchildren. Hilda was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul G. Ruiz, second husband, Ben Gamboa, and her oldest son, Pete Ruiz. Hilda worked over 30 years at Arizona State University in the housing department as a supervisor until retiring in 1977. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Resthaven / Carr Tenney Mortuary at 4310 E. Southern Ave. Phx., AZ. Mass at 9:30 am on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 2121 S. Rural Road, Tempe, AZ. Interment will immediately follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Phx., AZ. Relatives and friends are invited to a reception following interment. Information regarding these arrangements will be available at the church.
