Mary Lugo, beloved Mom, Nana, and Great-Nana died peacefully surrounded by her family on August 20, 2024 at the age of 91. Mary was born in El Paso, TX, raised in Tucson AZ, and moved to Phoenix AZ where she met and married her husband, Manuel Lugo. They were married over 50 years before his death. They settled in the Golden Gate neighborhood where they raised their family. Mary worked and retired from Motorola. Three of her children preceded her in death, Bobby, Manuel Jr, and Henry Lugo. She is survived by her remaining children Ernest (Frances), Daniel (Jennifer), Dolly (Ricardo) Aguirre, sister Mary Helen, 15 grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren. Mary was a little lady but large in love and joy. She had a smile for every new friend she met and blessings for all. Mary will be greatly missed by her family and friends who are comforted in knowing that she is now in eternal peace. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday September 3rd beginning with viewing and praying of the rosary at 9AM followed by Mass at 10AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1421 S 12th St, Phoenix AZ 85034. Interment will follow at St Francis Catholic Cemetery 2033 N 48th St, Phoenix AZ 85008. Donations can be made to Holy Cross Hospice in honor of the tremendously compassionate care provided by Mary’s care team (Cassie, Maria, Jen, Carol, and Father Antone); or to the Diocese of Phoenix TV Mass for providing her the opportunity to participate in Mass from home every Sunday.
