Heaven welcomed another angel when Midge, as she was affectionately known, was back in the loving arms of her parents and husband on January 27, 2015. Midge was born, the only child of Fenn Harris and Mildred Masterson-Harris, on October 5th 1920. She was a second generation Tempean and lived most of her 94 years in Tempe. As a young girl she lived in the house her father built, the Harris House, which is now designated as a Tempe Historical Home. She followed in her father’s footsteps by attending both Tempe High School, graduating in 1938 and Arizona Teachers College, later ASU, where Fenn was the Superintendent of Building and Grounds for more than 40 years. She met the love of her life, Lyle Hall, when riding a Phoenix bus he was driving. They were married on September 19th 1942. Midge is survived by their 5 children: Jerry Hall (Zenna), Carolyn Lindstrom (Jerry), Ron Hall (Judy), Dene Martin and Patty Walker (Danny); 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren with another expected. Midge was a wonderful cook, her apple pie was the best and no one could match her chicken and dumplings. Her family was always first in her heart and she was adored by them. She was the best Mom and Grandma. She loved to sew for the grandkids and they loved the shorts she made. She enjoyed her weekly ceramics class where she made beautiful gifts which we will always treasure. She loved the family desert breakfasts, cooking on a grill over a campfire, where everyone’s favorite treat was Midge’s fried bread with maple syrup or coated with cinnamon sugar. Midge was able to stay in her home of almost 60 years. This was possible with granddaughter, Annie Martin, living with her, along with the help of wonderful care-givers. We are thankful for the care she received by all. Services will be held Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 1:00pm at Resthaven Park Mortuary and Cemetery (4310 East Southern Avenue). In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity or Hospice of the Valley in Midge’s name.
