Ofelia Valdez Montenegro

Ofelia nació el 18 de abril de 1938 en Querobabi, Sonora, México, hija de Ricardo Valdez+ y María Luisa Mojuta Valdez+. Como la mayor de doce hermanos, asumió su papel con fortaleza, responsabilidad y una profunda devoción por su familia.

Fue una mujer fuerte, amorosa y trabajadora que dedicó su vida al cuidado de quienes amaba. La familia siempre fue el centro de su mundo, y dio incansablemente de sí misma con gracia, resiliencia y amor incondicional.

Le sobreviven su amado esposo, Luis V. Montenegro, y sus hijos: Mary Lou M. Martinez (Gustavo), Felipe Montenegro (Elvira), Mary Helen Salgado (Rick), y Raul Montenegro (Beatrice). Le precedió en fallecimiento su hija Maria Teresa Montenegro. Fue una orgullosa y dedicada abuela de 11 nietos: Britney Celisse, Gustavo, Monique, Ricardo, Lorraine, Abigail, Jeannette, Alondra, Jackie, Emma y Miguelito y 13 bisnietos: Dominic, Lylah, Celine, Matthew, Madelyn, Andy, Ezrah, Akeo, Rae, Isla, Sandi, Alexander y Bravery, a quienes adoraba profundamente.

Ofelia también es sobrevivida por sus hermanos: Manuel Valdez, Teresa Acuña, Richa Valdez, Sandra Leos, Bernardo Valdez, José Luis Valdez, Marco Valdez, Cipriano Valdez y Ramón Dolores Valdez. Le precedieron en el fallecimiento sus hermanos Rafael Valdez y Rosa Isela Valdez.

Los servicios se llevarán a cabo el 5 de enero de 2026 en Resthaven / Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens, ubicado en 4310 E. Southern Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85042.

Ofelia será profundamente extrañada y por siempre amada. Su memoria vivirá eternamente a través de las muchas generaciones que cuidó y formó con su corazón.

Ofelia Valdez Montenegro, passed away on December 17, 2025 surrounded by love.

Ofelia was born on April 18, 1938, in Querobabi, Sonora, Mexico, to Ricardo Valdez+ and Maria Luisa Mojuta Valdez+. She was the oldest of twelve siblings, a role she embraced with strength, responsibility, and deep devotion to her family.

A strong, loving, and hardworking woman, Ofelia dedicated her life to caring for those she loved. Family was the center of her world, and she gave endlessly of herself with grace, resilience, and unconditional love.

She is survived by her loving husband, Luis V. Montenegro, and her children: Mary Lou M. Martinez (Gustavo), Felipe Montenegro (Elvira), Mary Helen Salgado (Rick), and Raul Montenegro (Beatrice). She was preceded in death by her daughter Maria Teresa Montenegro. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to 11 grandchildren: Britney, Gustavo, Monique, Richard, Lorraine, Abigail, Jeannette, Alondra, Jackie, Emma y Miguelito and 13 great-grandchildren: Dominic, Lylah, Celine, Matthew, Madelyn, Andy, Ezrah, Akeo, Rae, Isla, Sandi, Alexander and Bravery, whom she absolutely adored.

Ofelia is also survived by her siblings: Manuel Valdez, Teresa Acuña, Richa Valdez, Sandra Leos, Bernardo Valdez, Jose Luis Valdez, Marco Valdez, Cipriano Valdez, and Ramon Dolores Valdez.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Rafael Valdez and Rosa Isela Valdez.

Services will be held on January 5, 2026, at Resthaven / Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens, located at 4310 E. Southern Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85042.

Burial: 1:15 p.m.

Ofelia will be deeply missed and forever loved, her memory living on through the many generations she nurtured with her heart.
