Leo, or “Archie” as he was known growing up, was raised in a family of nine children. After losing his father at just 4 years old, Leo took on the responsibilities of helping support a family at a very young age. He started working at just 12 years old - packing hay - and giving every dollar he earned to his mother in order to help support the household. He continued to balance providing for his family with getting an education through St. Johns High School, where he also played basketball and football.
Out of high school, Leo started his career working with a local fencing company, which led him into a long career in construction - all the while, continuing to support his mother with every paycheck he earned.
That was until he met a girl outside of an A&W in March of 1961; and just four years later, he would marry her, the love of his life, Margaret, on November 27, 1965. Together, the newlyweds moved to South Phoenix, and began to create a family of their own, raising four children: Lucy, Alysia, Diana, and Steve.
As a child, Leo was brought up to love and respect the Catholic faith. As a father, Leo wanted to instill the same deep-rooted Catholic upbringing he was raised with. They attended mass every Sunday, and he was proud to send them all to Catholic elementary school.
As his family grew, so did his commitment to providing for them. Not only did he provide by specializing as a concrete form setter and eventually foreman for his company, but even coming home after a long week of work, he would spend his Friday evenings mowing the lawn in order to provide them a beautiful home to live in. Their home would go on to welcome not only his four children and their spouses, but a total of fourteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends - and of course, Ginger, his faithful yorkie-poo companion.
After a lifetime of work, Leo retired from Pendergast Construction Company in 2004. True to who he was, his retirement years were spent working diligently to maintain his home, and spending time surrounded by those he loved. Weekends were spent full of parties, playing cornhole, and watching his youngest grandchildren play with his great grandchildren in his backyard.
On January, 8, 2022, Rosaleo B. Archuleta passed on from this life, survived by five of his siblings, four children and their spouses, thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and of course, the girl he fell in love with outside the A&W nearly sixty years ago.
