

Vijay worked for APS for 32 years as a computer operator and everyone who knew him spoke about his great dedication and professionalism. Vijay was a big sports fan and always cheered on his hometown Phoenix Suns and Arizona Cardinals. Vijay loved food, and trying out new restaurants was something he enjoyed doing with his children and grandchildren. Watching Indian movies and listening to Indian music was something that he and his wife Lila enjoyed doing together. Vijay was a faithful Christian and a faithful member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Tempe, AZ.
Vijay was a widower to his wife of 56 years Lila Barar, and he leaves behind his children Simi and Ashwani Barar. His grandchildren Storm, Shane III, and Lyla who held a special place in his heart. Vijay was the oldest of three his younger brother Yashwant, and baby sister Olive who he took care of like a father were always in his thoughts even though they were separated by many miles. Vijay was a kind hearted and loving man who showed concern for not only his family and extended family but also for his friends in India and the US. Vijay was a loving husband, supportive father, and proud grandfather. If you knew Vijay then you know he was always the host with the most and he always made sure you felt welcome.
Vijay’s kindness and love for his family and friends will forever be remembered and remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Resthaven/Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens, 4310 E Southern Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85042. A funeral service will follow at the same location at 12:00 PM, with a graveside service taking place at Resthaven/Carr-Tenney Memorial Gardens at 1:00 PM.
