

In Loving Memory
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Wanda B Colvin-Dietz, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, on October 28, 2025. She lived a very active life until the age of 95, living out her final years with her loving daughter Ann in Chandler, AZ. She departed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and love.
Life and Legacy
Wanda was born in Westville, Oklahoma on April 10, 1930. She moved to Phoenix, AZ in the summer of 1934 due to her father having tuberculous. She attended and graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1947. After High School, she enrolled at Good Samaritan School of Nursing. Wanda served as Secretary and Treasurer of her graduating class of 1951. She worked for General Practitioners following graduation. In 1952, she moved to Detroit, Michigan where she served as a Surgical Nurse. Afterwards, she returned to Phoenix from 1954 to 1963.
In 1963, she was selected by Dr. John Green and Dr. Hal Pittman as their Administrative Head Registered Nurse at Barrow Neurological Institute until her first retirement on June 30, 1984. A few years later she was asked by Dr. Shetter of Barrow Neurological Institute to work directly as his Registered Nurse, where she served into her late 70’s and eventually retired officially.
Wanda lived a life marked by dedication to her family, friends, community and career where she served proudly with great enthusiasm. Wanda was known for her passion and commitment throughout every stage of her life. She made significant contributions earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends. She touched the lives of many with her warmth, generosity, and unwavering support. Those who knew her loved her dearly.
Wanda was an accomplished artist, with award-winning oil paintings. She enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, exploring the Arizona deserts in search of Native American artifacts, shopping, country dancing, and watching the Arizona Cardinals and Green Bay Packers play football.
Family and Loved Ones
Wanda Dietz is survived by her daughter Ann and her son Jon (Sheila); Grandchildren: Kristine (Fiancé Steve), Brian (Trina), Shawn (Joslyn), Erin (Fiancé Eugene); Great-Grandchildren: Tyler (Lexi), Drew, Brayden (Kaylee), Shane, Brenley, Brooklyn; Great-Great Grandchildren: Haisley and Hudson; Extended family Kim (Craig) Caldwell, Susan (Mark) Bauer, Kevin (Anne) Czerwinski and their loving families; as well as numerous friends and relatives who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Alta Colvin, son-in-law William Keil, and the love of her life John Czerwinski.
Visitation
A visitation and viewing will be held on November 12, 2025, at Resthaven/Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens, 4310 E Southern Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85042 from 11:00am to 12:30pm. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance, share stories, and honor the remarkable life of Wanda.
