

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Zahn, a beloved figure and true pioneer in the world of professional bowling. Wayne passed peacefully on August 20th, 2025. Born on January 20, 1941, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Wayne's journey with the sport began at a young age, quickly establishing him as a prodigy with immense talent and a competitive spirit.
A charter member of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA), Wayne's masterful technique and consistent performance led to a remarkable 14 PBA titles and a coveted USBC Open Championships eagle. His dedication and skill were recognized by his peers and the wider bowling community, leading to his induction into the USBC Hall of Fame in 1980. At the time, he was the youngest to ever receive the honor. The following year, he was rightfully inducted into the PBA Hall of Fame, cementing his legacy as one of the sport's all-time greats. Among his many notable achievements, he is credited with rolling the first-ever 300 game in the Hall of Fame Tournament in 1989. In 2009, during the PBA’s golden anniversary, he was honored as one of the “50 Greatest Players”.
Wayne was a dedicated member of the bowling community. In addition to his professional career, he continued to share his passion for the sport by operating a 24-lane bowling center in Tempe Arizona. He was a mentor and an inspiration to many, always willing to share his knowledge and love for the game.
Wayne Zahn's impact on the sport of bowling is immeasurable. He will be remembered, not only for his remarkable accomplishments and fierce competitiveness, but also for his sportsmanship, humility, and the indelible mark he left on the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will continue to inspire generations of bowlers to come. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the entire bowling community.
