Our beloved Lupita answered the call of God on Tuesday, October 22nd, 2019 at the young age of 46. Lupita Maria Rojo was born on June 15th, 1973 at Santa Martha Catholic Hospital in Los Angeles, CA to Braulio Rojo and Esther Arteaga Rojo. She is the first daughter of five children. Born severely premature and in a critical state, the nuns who delivered Lupita immediately baptized her in the name of Maria Guadalupe, in the honor of the Virgin Mary. By the grace of God she miraculously survived her premature state.
Lupita attended Aeolian Elementary School, Los Nietos Middle School, and graduated from Pioneer High School, class of 1991. She furthered her education at Cerritos Community College, receiving her Associates of Arts Degree. She earned a Cosmetology license, esthetician certification, and was in the process of obtaining a paralegal license.
Lupita’s life was filled with many struggles, disabilities, and sicknesses. She was diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy disease, polymyositis, at an early age. Her health declined significantly in High School and progressed throughout the rest of her life, eventually requiring the use of a wheelchair.
Despite these difficulties, Lupita’s faith in God only strengthened. She was a devout Catholic, attending catechism as a child, later serving as an active member of the youth group and even as an assistant Catechist. Lupita was a parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Los Nietos, CA.
On September 20, 2019 she was diagnosed with end stage liver failure. Sadly, she passed away at the Lakewood Healthcare Center in Downey, surrounded by caring staff and loving family. Lupita is survived by her mother Esther Rojo, siblings Gabriel Rojo, Nancy Cheng, Laura Lee Rojo, Raymund Rojo, nieces and nephews Devontè Michael Rojo, Randi Alexis Rojo, niece/God-Daughter Amber Scarlet Cheng, and Landon Raymond Cheng.
