Ronald Manzanares, age 60, went to be with his Lord on December 25, 2015 at his home in Pico Rivera. He was a loving father and grandfather and was devoted to his parents, sister and nephew. He was a long time resident of Pico Rivera, attending South Ranchito, Meller, and El Rancho, and graduating from Rio Hondo College. He was employed by Northrop Grumman for 28 years where he worked on a wide range of projects like the B-2 stealth bomber, and made many lifelong friends. Outside of work, he volunteered for the Special Olympics, mentored high school students about engineering, and walked for cancer research. Ron had an infectious laugh that typified his easygoing nature. He was happiest around family and friends where he loved bringing people together. He remembered everyone and their children, known to show up with lots of gifts, and often offering life advice. Though he usually procrastinated on his own tasks, he wouldn’t forget to be there for others. Ron loved the outdoors and would get away to go camping near Bishop, where he’d bring his dog along to hike and fish. He also loved music of all kinds and, now and then, could still be seen behind the drums. If he wasn’t going to concerts, he was giving away tickets to friends and family. Of course, everyone who knew him knew about his love for the Bruins. He is survived by his parents Manuel and Teresa Manzanares of Pico Rivera, daughter Veronica Olague and her husband Gabriel of Whittier, 2 grandchildren, Leslie and Christina Olague, great-grandchild Alayna Ramon, sister Brenda Kapila and her husband Ravi of Chino Hills, nephew and godson Paul Avalos. Ron would like to thank his family and friends for sharing support, laughter and good times. He would not want anyone to grieve his passing, but to have him live on in their memories. “Life is short; do not put off anything for tomorrow that can be done today, such as sharing your love.”
