

Valentin RodriguezBorn February 14, 1928 in Lockhart, Texas to the proud parents, Miguel and Lupe Rodriguez. He was the 2nd born of 13 siblings and was the 1st son in their family. He Lived in Fenpress, Texas on a farm in his younger years. He attended school until the 8th grade. (something very common in those years.) He was between 13 and 14 years old. One summer he and his family went to go and pick cotton in the cotton fields. The weighing supervisor there was named Paula Mestas and she had a beautiful daughter named Delia Mestas. She took her daughter to work with her one day and there is where Vale spotted her. It was LOVE at first sight. And he asked his father Miguel to ask the lady that weights the cotton, if he could met her. Little did he know that she was his older sister's friend. Our tia "Chuy". She was about to get married and asked Delia to be her maid of honor. And of course Vale was the best man. Several weeks after the wedding he asked her to go around with him. And she said yes. He was so in love with her that he asked his father if he could ask her mother for her hand in marriage. She told him that she would promise to marry him soon as her older brother came home from the Army, She thought it would be in 4 years. Well, who was to know that Delia's brother fell form his parachute and broke his leg came home within a Month. And six month's late they were married by church. He is a proud father of 15 children (3 deceased), seven boys and eight girls. Now he is a grampa, great grandpa and great-great grandpa. He worked as a caterpillar operator and ran heavy equipment for pool excavation. His hobbies included guitar, boxing, stock car racing and playing the trumpet and singing at a night club and boy could he sing and play! His favorite foods include Chile Verde, Eggs with Chile and water and spices, enchiladas, avocados, mashed potatoes and chicken legs. He loved to tell jokes and listen to his music, watch novellas and talk on the phone. He has 2 pets, a bird named "Buddy Boy" and a German Shepard named "Baby". Valentin Rodriguez went home to be with the Lord on January 1, 2010. He will be missed but not forgotten. A Rosary will be held on Thursday, January 7th at 7:00 p.m. at Epiphany Catholic Church. A funeral mass with be held on Friday, January 8th at 9:30 a.m. at Epiphany Catholic Church. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery following funeral mass.
