Ida M. Blanchard Goad, 81, a native of Pierre Part and resident of Baton Rouge died Thursday September 2, 2021.
Although Ida was a court reporter, her first calling was to be wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved serving people. She was always available to help someone in need whether it was a neighbor, relative, or friend.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Caring for her youngest brought her much joy. When they were babies, she jumped at the chance to cradle them in her arms for hours. As soon as they got old enough to talk, she taught them words in her native Cajun French language, and they would come home from a day at Granny’s house saying “Bonjour!” and “Pain perdu!” She also enjoyed teaching her older grandchildren how to cook, sew, and drive defensively. In the time leading up to her retirement she enjoyed spending time exercising and traveling with her husband, Jerry.
Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Pierre Part on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church with interment in the family burial vault.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jerry Goad of Baton Rouge; two sons and daughters-in-law Travis and Lynn Blanchard and Brian and Elizabeth Goad all of Baton Rouge; a sister and brother-in-law, Lena and Charles Simoneaux of Pierre Part; a brother and sister-in-law, C.J. and Berta Mabile of Pierre Part; and a brother-in-law Donald Alonzo of White Castle; and six grandchildren: Patrick Blanchard of Houston, Texas, Caroline Blanchard of Auburn, Alabama, Catherine and Corinne Blanchard of Baton Rouge, and Brady and Henry Goad of Baton Rouge.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Davis B. Blanchard; daughter Monique M. Blanchard; parents Clebert “Clay” and Anite Blanchard Mabile; three sisters, Catherine and Elsie Mabile and Pansy Alonzo and two brothers, Horace and Curtis Mabile.
Pallbearers will be Keith Blanchard, Timothy Blanchard, Paul Alonzo, Donnovan Mabile, Patrick Blanchard and Bartt Blanchard.
