John “Johnny” Sterling Laurie III, of Pierre Part, LA, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, at the age of 74, after a life well-lived on his own terms full of laughter, loyalty, LSU sports, good food, cold beer, and the people he loved most.
Born in Baton Rouge, LA, Johnny proudly served in the United States Navy, and while he carried that pride with him always, he was just as proud of the life he built around the simple things that made him happy.
Johnny knew how to enjoy life. If there was an LSU game on TV, something good cooking, friends gathered around, and a cold beer close by, that was just about his perfect day. He loved being at home, swapping stories, cutting up with friends, and tossing out one of his sly remarks that would catch you off guard and have everybody laughing. He had a natural way of making ordinary moments feel like the best kind of memories.
He leaves behind his close friend, Kathy Leonard; his son, David Laurie; his grandson, Kaden Laurie; his brother, Steven Laurie, and his wife, Tamara; his sister, Lynette Clooney, and her husband, Joe; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish the laughs and stories.
He now joins his parents, John and Margaret Laurie, who preceded him in death.
A visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Pierre Part, LA, on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 10:30am until Service at 1:30pm. Interment to follow afterwards in the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church Mausoleum.
