He was a welder by trade who had a special talent and eye for his work. He was a proud member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 198 from which he retired. He loved listening to music, his beer, whiskey, smokes and raising hell. He also loved raising his roosters and hens. Not long ago, he told me "before he died he wanted to raise one last batch of his breed". Well, he accomplished that! He watched them grow from hatchlings into the most beautiful birds ever! He also enjoyed sitting at his door where he watched and fed the little house wrens that would visit him daily. But most of all, he loved his little dog companion, Christmas. She brought him so much joy and happiness these last three years.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Brenda Gros McCarthy; daughter, Lisa McCarthy Guillot (Chad); and 2 sons, Leonard McCarthy, Jr., and Shane McCarthy; brother, Phillip “Buck” McCarthy; grandchildren, Chaz Guillot, Claire, Blanchard, Brittany Breaux, Nicholas McCarthy, Heather Stevens, and Andrea Gross; great-grandchildren, Ty Guillot, Landon Guillot, and Layne Blanchard.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Isabelle and John McCarthy; and two brothers, John McCarthy, Jr., and Alvin McCarthy, Sr.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.oursofhpierrepart.com for the McCarthy family.
