

To all who knew him, he was a storyteller, charismatic and quite entertaining.
After attending Assumption High School, he followed in his father’s footsteps and became a pipeline welder. He was a proud member of UA Local 198/798. His welding career allowed him to travel throughout the country.
He was proud of his Cajun heritage. He enjoyed speaking French, playing guitar, building boats and restoring antique motors. He also enjoyed working in his garden, restoring his antique tractor and spending time with his family.
He was a Freemason and member of Ascension Lodge 251 of Donaldsonville.
He is survived by his daughter; Cheraine Blanchard Melancon and husband Seph, his son; Michael “ Mikey” Blanchard and wife Gena, his grandchildren; Jackson and Parker Grace Melancon; Asher and Adley Blanchard, Sister; Paulette B. LeBlanc (Raymond Jr. "Rayma'"), Brothers; Randall "Lank" Blanchard (Myra), Darrin Blanchard (Sandy), Todd Blanchard (Katherine "Candy"), Paul "T-Paul" Blanchard Jr. (Nikki), Kerry Blanchard (Denise), and Nicky Blanchard; his sisters in law; Carrie Vannoy and Mary Lee Mabile as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Michael is preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Mabile Blanchard and his parents Frances Verrette Blanchard and Paul Hayward Blanchard.
The family would like to thank his medical teams including Dr. Vince Cataldo, Dustin Denicola and Staff, Dr. Charles Bolotte and Staff, Dr. Gerald Arbour and Staff along with the entire team of The Hospice of Baton Rouge. Many thanks to all his friends, family members and lifelong neighbors who helped throughout this process.

A memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Pierre Part, LA, on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 10am.
God looked around His garden
