Florence Palazzo, 91, a long-time resident of Pompano Beach, FL, passed away peacefully, at Trustbridge Hospice Center, Pompano Beach, FL on December 17, 2022, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel in Deerfield Beach FL on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 9:00am.
Florence was born on May 10, 1931, in Bay Shore, NY, one of eight children born to Antonio and Mary who emigrated to the U.S. from Sicily. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt, and cousin, who put her faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. Her husband of 67 years, Charles Palazzo, preceded her in death at the age of 88 in 2019.
Florence primarily dedicated her life to nurturing support of her family as homemaker but sporadically worked part time as a cosmetologist. Her creative talents appeared in her wonderful cooking and as an amateur artist, painting landscapes.
Florence lived up to the image of “the greatest generation”, in her love of God, family, and country. Born in poverty during the Great Depression, she believed faith, the closeness of family, and hard work were the ingredients to a satisfying life in spite of circumstances.
Florence is survived by her four sons, Joseph, Anthony (Tony), Charles (Chuck), and Paul, daughters-in-law, Barbara and Roseann, grandchildren, Tina, Correne, Lisa, Gina, Rhonda, and Christopher, great grandchildren, Joey, Jake, Kristen, Benjamin, Peter, Matthew, Anna, John, Abby, and one on the way, as well as many nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins, and close friends. She is also survived by two wonderful friends/angels, Pat and Cindy who ministered to her unselfishly, in her final months.
