Grace “Ellen” Jordan, born on April 30, 1928 was the only daughter of George and Grace Hedge of Summerville, New Jersey and passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of June 8, 2020 in the Vitas Hospice facility at the North Broward Medical Center in Pompano Beach, Florida.
Ellen Jordan was a long-time resident of Lighthouse Point, FL and was a long-time parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church of Lighthouse Point. Ellen Jordan returned to South Florida in 1989 with her husband, John R. Jordan after both had retired from long careers in education and aerospace respectively, centered in Southern California. Ellen Jordan graduated from California State University Long Beach and spent over 20 years teaching special needs students at the junior high school level in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Ellen enjoyed racing sailboats with her husband John and also enjoyed bowling, golf and bridge among other activities.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years John in 1997. She is survived by three children: John R. Jordan of Powell, Ohio; Ellen B. Jordan of Orange, California and Patricia A. Perry of Fayetteville, North Carolina; seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Her descendants reside in the states of California, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio and Washington.
A committal service will be held for Ellen at the Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in North Lauderdale, Florida at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2020.
