Jim was born on February 24, 1944 in Laurel, Maryland to James Sr. and Elizabeth Purdham. As a young child he would often fish the banks and rivers as well as play baseball. Jim chose the life of a carpenter and painter taking inspiration from his father at an early age.
After 32 years in Maryland, Jim and his family moved to Pompano Beach, Fl. There he dedicated his life to his family, friends, work and fishing. Jim really enjoyed the warm Florida weather and the bountiful fish off the Florida coast. He was an avid fisherman who spent many hours Captain of his boats, Seawind and Aquasport. One of his most memorable days on the water was May 4, 1980 when he caught a 7’ 10”, 186lb Blue Marlin which is proudly mounted on his wall. In addition to fishing, he also enjoyed golf, billiards and poker.
His laughter, love and compassion for his family, friends & all those that knew him will be sorely missed.
“ And the fish fear him no more.”
