

Mitchell, John Charles 86, of Lighthouse Point passed away May 23, 2011. Born September 26, 1924 in Buffalo, NY to John and Ruth Mitchell. He was a Sargeant in the Army Air Force during WWII stationed in England, France and Russia. He was a Flight Gunner/Engineer on both B17's and B’26's and he flew 50 combat missions. He earned six Oak Leaf Clusters. John was a self employed Architect, Contractor and Land Developer. He was in 1989 Commander of the Pompano Beach Power Squadron, long time member of the Corinthians of Lighthouse Point Yacht Club , the Elks, the Lighthouse Point Auxiliary Police Boating Division and had 20 yrs of volunteer service with the Lighthouse Point Police Dept. A member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Pompano Beach. He was pre-deceased by his wife Colleen and his daughter Patricia Minotto. Survived by his son John A. Mitchell, grandson Jerry Minotto and his sister Ruth Mitchell. Visitation will be Saturday, May 28th from 10 am to Service time at 12 pm at KRAEER FUNERAL HOME 1199 E. Sample Rd.
