

Bob was born on November 27, 1930, in Irvington, New Jersey, to Robert P. and Mary Strain Ostertag. He grew up in Union, New Jersey, where he attended Union High School and was a proud member of the baseball, basketball, and football teams.
On April 11, 1953, Bob married the love of his life, Hannelore (Lore) Gessler, in Union, New Jersey. In 1972, they moved to Coral Springs, Florida, where Bob worked for Wrono Enterprises selling hurricane shutters.
A proud veteran, Bob served three years in the United States Air Force, where he was honored to serve as a drill instructor. He was a lifetime member of the Union Optimist Club, holding many positions including President, Treasurer, and Lieutenant Governor.
Bob was an avid sports enthusiast and a loyal fan of the Miami Dolphins, Miami Heat, and Florida Panthers. He loved playing golf and spent many years on the Fairmont Country Club in Chatham, New Jersey and Coral Springs Country Club in Florida. Later in life, Bob became known for his good fortune at bingo and served as Treasurer for his bingo group.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lore Ostertag, on June 14, 2012.
Bob is survived by his children Susan Baer, Robin Ostertag (Linda Haves), and Joy Krieg (Jeff Krieg); his grandchildren Jennifer Bishop (Jessica Williams), Kristopher Krieg (Rachel Krieg), and Andrew Krieg; and great-grandsons, Jaxon Krieg and Raiden Struller.
Bob deeply loved his family and found his greatest joy in being surrounded by them. In his final moments, he was lovingly embraced by his entire family—just as he had always wished.
The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to Dr. Alapati, Dr. El Kassem, Nicole with Hospice, Vitas at Coral Springs Medical Center, and all of the compassionate staff at Lenox on the Lake for their exceptional care and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Kidney Fund in Bob’s memory.
