Albert Alvin Follett, 92, of Nederland, Texas, passed peacefully into eternal rest on December 18, 2025, just days after celebrating his 92nd birthday. Born on December 10, 1933, Albert lived a life defined by faith, service, hard work, and deep devotion to family and friends.
Albert was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Elmer Follett; his mother, Leona Marie Fischer; his brother, Edgar Follett Jr.; his beloved wife, Betty Follett; his son, Rev. Mark Follett; and his sisters, Ida Mae Douglas and Janet Miguez.
He leaves behind a loving family including his daughter, Carrie Leyendecker and her children, Kyle and Brett Leyendecker; his step-son, Web Welker and wife Carole; his step-daughter, Vera Canton and husband Tom; and his sister, Kathy Follett. Albert also leaves numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
Albert was a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church in Port Arthur, Texas, where he served as a trustee and on various committees. He was always ready to help wherever he was needed.
He was also known for sharing his knowledge and passion for sailing. His lifelong love for sailing began at an early age. He was the skipper of the Alpha, Red S, Tertia, Foxfire, and Footprints, which he and Betty sailed to Florida, the Keys, and to the Bahamas. He taught boating classes for the Beaumont Power Squadron and was a member of the Port Arthur Yacht Club, where he enjoyed working with young students through Junior Sailing.
Professionally, Albert devoted nearly 44 years working in the lab at Texaco. Even after retirement, he remained closely connected to his coworkers, faithfully attending monthly gatherings with his cherished “Lab buddies.”
Pallbearers will be Kyle Leyendecker, Brett Leyendecker, Roy Capdeville, Nathan Capdeville, Web Welker, and Elton Gish, with honorary pallbearers Denny Winter, Eric Miguez, Frank Proft, and Bill Tolar.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home Chapel, located at 4841 39th Street, Port Arthur, Texas 77642, on December 23, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
A Celebration of Albert’s Life will follow at the same location beginning at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Pastor Byron Harper, with music provided by pianist Sandy Hebert.
Albert Alvin Follett will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park, located at 3900 Twin City Highway, Groves, Texas.
Albert’s legacy of faith and friendship will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him.
