Barbara Nell (Rollinson) Robicheaux, 87 left her earthly home and entered into the Gates of Heaven on Tuesday July 30, 2024 in Houston, TX. We are saddened and yet we rejoice in knowing she is healthy and whole again. She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on September 3, 1936.
Barbara graduated from Bishop Byrne High School in 1955. While attending high school Barbara worked part time selling tickets and candy at a movie theater. A mutual friend introduced her to Tete Robicheaux who was working as an usher at the theater. She married her sweetheart and love of her life Tete in 1955.
Family was central to Barbara, attending every family event from birthdays, baptisms, school plays, sport events, graduations, marriages to holidays until she could no longer travel. She loved family gatherings that included making her famous chicken salad, fudge and chocolate cake icing (she loved chocolate), card games and fierce scrabble games. Barbara and Tete were famous for calling every family member on their birthday and singing Happy Birthday to them.
Barbara was a woman of strong faith as church was always important in her life and family. Barbara and Tete were members of St. Catherine of Siena parish in Port Arthur from 1955 to 2017. Barbara was very active in St. Catherine’s Altar Society for which she loved to sew baby baptismal stoles and seasonal decorations. Barbara first started sewing after high school and became quite good at. As word of her ability as a seamstress spread many people sought her out to sew for them. Her favorite sewing projects were the wedding dresses for her daughter and nieces. Barbara and Tete moved to Katy TX after Hurricane Harvey to be closer to family.
Barbara and Tete are united again as the past 23 months apart have been difficult. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Tete Robicheaux and her parents Mary Burdette Rollinson and Christopher Rollinson of Port Arthur.
Barbara is survived by her four children David Robicheaux and his wife Cindy, Douglas Robicheaux and his wife Christine, Trudy Dapprich and her husband Jeff, Brian Robicheaux and his wife Joan, 11 grandchildren Danny Robicheaux, Justin Robicheaux, Jeanne Hill, Kit Dapprich, Cole Dapprich, Kyle Dapprich, Jessica Crow, Hannah Bostick, Madeline Brooks, Eric Robicheaux and Emily Robicheaux and 15 great grandchildren Brady, Liam, Hazel, Jackie, Maeve, Austin, Travis, Jorah, Miro, Ellis, Naidene, Malcolm, Lyndon, Luna and Owen.
