Dagoberto “Dago” Castro age 59, of Groves, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2025. Dago was born in Mexico to Delores De Hoyos and Fernando Eloy Castro and moved to Texas at the age of six, where he would build a life full of love, hard work, and cherished memories.
Dago is survived by his devoted wife of over 35 years, Ruth Castro; his loving daughter, Stephanie Ramirez, and her husband, Jonathan; his brothers, Fernando Castro, Raul Castro, and Gil Castro; his sisters, Angelica Guerro and Alma Castro; and his treasured grandchildren, Christian Castro Jr., Xavier Castro, Adrian Castro, Jireh Ramirez, Ezra Ramirez, and Silas Ramirez.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Christian Castro; his parents, Fernando Eloy Castro and Dolores De Hoyos; and his brother, Eloy Castro.
A true ranch man at heart, Dago found joy in caring for his horses, chickens, and roosters, and had a deep love for rodeo. He was known for his attention to detail, strong work ethic, and unwavering dedication to providing for his family. Dago had a warm, welcoming spirit, he never met a stranger and was always quick to strike up a conversation. He was a devoted fan of the Houston Astros, but nothing brought him greater happiness than time spent with his family and grandchildren.
Though he never bought flowers, Dago had his own special way of showing love, often picking blooms from his wife’s garden, placing them in a simple styrofoam cup, and giving them to her with a smile. These small acts spoke volumes about his heart.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, 4841 39th St, Port Arthur, Texas 77642. A celebration of Dago’s life will occur Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM, also at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Dago will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City Highway, Groves, TX 77619.
Dago will be remembered for his big heart, his deep love for his family, and the countless ways he made life more beautiful for those around him.
Dagoberto “Dago” Castro, de 59 años y residente de Groves, Texas, falleció pacíficamente el jueves 14 de agosto de 2025. Dago nació en México, hijo de Dolores De Hoyos y Fernando Eloy Castro, y se mudó a Texas a los seis años, donde forjaría una vida llena de amor, trabajo duro y recuerdos entrañables.
A Dago le sobreviven su devota esposa, Ruth Castro, con quien convivió durante más de 35 años; su querida hija, Stephanie Ramírez, y su esposo, Jonathan; sus hermanos, Fernando Castro, Raúl Castro y Gil Castro; sus hermanas, Angélica Guerrero y Alma Castro; y sus queridos nietos, Christian Castro Jr., Xavier Castro, Adrián Castro, Jireh Ramírez, Ezra Ramírez y Silas Ramírez.
Le precedieron en la muerte su amado hijo, Christian Castro; sus padres, Fernando Eloy Castro y Dolores De Hoyos; y su hermano, Eloy Castro.
Un auténtico ranchero de corazón, Dago disfrutaba cuidando sus caballos, gallinas y gallos, y sentía una profunda pasión por el rodeo. Era conocido por su atención al detalle, su sólida ética de trabajo y su inquebrantable dedicación al sustento de su familia. Dago tenía un espíritu cálido y acogedor, nunca conocía a desconocidos y siempre estaba dispuesto a entablar conversación. Era un gran aficionado de los Astros de Houston, pero nada le hacía más feliz que pasar tiempo con su familia y sus nietos.
Aunque nunca compraba flores, Dago tenía su propia forma de demostrar amor: solía recoger flores del jardín de su esposa, colocarlas en un sencillo vaso de poliestireno y entregárselas con una sonrisa. Estos pequeños gestos decían mucho de su corazón.
Se celebrará una reunión de familiares y amigos el martes 19 de agosto de 2025, de 16:00 a 20:00 h, en la Funeraria Grammier-Oberle, ubicada en la calle 39 número 4841, Port Arthur, Texas 77642. El homenaje a Dago se celebrará el miércoles 20 de agosto de 2025 a las 10:00 h, también en la Funeraria Grammier-Oberle. Dago será enterrado en el Parque Memorial Greenlawn, ubicado en la carretera Twin City número 3900, Groves, TX 77619.
Dago será recordado por su gran corazón, su profundo amor por su familia y las innumerables maneras en que hizo la vida más hermosa para quienes lo rodeaban.
