

David H. Verdine, Sr., 76, of Port Arthur passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family. David was born July 4, 1936, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to the late Lessan Verdine and Ada Kelley.
David is described by his family as a man who was a loving father, devoted husband and proud grandfather. David loved nature and the outdoors. He and his wife built their home in Kirbyville where he enjoyed being in the woods. David’s hobbies include building his own race cars and woodworking. David was known to be a strict disciplinarian and very organized. His family members will always know him as a loving and good hearted man who liked to have fun. He will be greatly missed by many.
David is preceded in death by his parents, son, Russell Verdine; father in law, Roy DeMarcay, and mother in law, Lota Dore.
David is survived by his loving wife Mabel Verdine of Port Arthur; sons, David H. Verdine Jr., and his wife Sonia of Dubai; Dennis Verdine of Port Arthur; daughter, Penny Verdine Hebert of Port Arthur; sister, Elizabeth Leggitt of Iowa; grandchildren, Crystal LaCaze and her husband Brian of Conroe; Brandy Piazza of Houston; Brandi Coon; George Coon and his partner Amanda; Larry Hebert, Jr., Tyler Hebert; all of Port Arthur; Diana Verdine; Donna Verdine; both of Dubai; 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Carl Culifer, Leonard “Chip Arnold, Brian LaCaze, George Coon, Terry Champeaux and Larry Hebert.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. Until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, November 4, 2012, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home with Rev. J.C. Coon officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Nederland.
