

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donna "Mimi" Chapman, who departed from this world on May 21, 2024. Born on February 4, 1950, Donna, also known as Mimi, lived a life marked by joy, love, and tireless service to her community.
Donna was survived by her, daughter Meredith Chapman-Spangler and son-in-law Jason Spangler of Bridge City. Son James Richard (adopted name Michael) of New Jersey. Her Grandchildren, Ashley Mummey and husband Zachary Mummey of Lufkin Tx. David VonderHeyden II of Bridge City Tx. Cheyenne Rochester and husband Nathan Rochester of Vidor Tx. As well as her many Great Grandchildren, Zachary Mummey II, Wyatt Mummey, and Mason Mummey of Lufkin Tx. Rachael Rochester and Nathan Rochester of Vidor Tx. She is also survived by her Siblings Robert Becker, Doug Becker and his wife Grace, and Debbie Mead, of New Jersey, Wendy Burke and her husband Michael of Florida. Donna's devotion to her family was the thread that wove through the fabric of her life.
Donna's life was not without its fair share of sorrow.
She was predeceased by her Mother, May Becker and Father, Benjamin Becker of New Jersey and Brother-in-law Mark Mead of New Jersey. Yet, Donna's indomitable spirit and optimism carried her through life's ups and downs.
Donna was an active member of many churches and volunteer organizations throughout her life. She was a born-again Christian. She regularly attended Timber Creek-Groves Church, formerly Agape Groves and recently served as a Volunteer at New Beginning Ministries of Port Arthur, Tx.
A woman of strong beliefs, Donna's commitment to her church was unwavering. She was known for her vibrant personality, consistently bringing joy and warmth wherever she went. Happy, determined, kind, caring, and loving, these words perfectly encapsulate who Donna was. Her favorite color was purple, a hue reflective of her royal spirit
An ardent music lover, Donna's favorite bands included The Beach Boys, The Beatles, and Elvis Presley. Donna sat it the front row of the Beatles concert in Atlantic City and hung out with Bruce Springsteen at the Teen Des Vous! She was also a loyal fan of the Eagles Football team. A favorite pastime of hers was playing Scrabble with her friends and her most cherished recreational activity was helping people and playing with her Great Grandchildren.
Donna formerly worked with Congressman Chris Smith of New Jersey for many years, she had been to the white house during those years, getting to meet the President.
Donna believed in the power of asking, famously quoting, "You no ask, you no get." Her legacy, a testament to her warm and kind spirit, will continue to inspire and guide those who loved her.
Donna was a beacon of love and compassion in our lives, and her absence will be deeply felt. Though we mourn her loss, we celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the countless lives she touched. Rest in peace, dear Donna. You are greatly missed.
All friends and family are asked to wear purple in honor of Donna.
