

Elmer was born on December 12th, 1980, in Waspam Rio Coco, Nicaragua to his mother Isabel Kitler Thompson. He was the eldest of seven children, including Katia, Sorena, Stefany, Yesenia, Gohn, and Ethel.
After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School on May 27th, 2000, Elmer developed a passion for fishing and shrimping, which became his livelihood for many years. He enjoyed being out on the water and spent his free time fishing, crabbing, and enjoying the company of friends and family.
In 2009, Elmer and Kelly Sanchez welcomed their son, Izaac Leonel Zuniga, who brought immense joy to Elmer's life. He adored his son and cherished their time together.
Elmer was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother Sara & Sidney Wilson. He is survived by his loving parents, Isabel Kitler Thompson and stepfather Anthony Thompson, his siblings: Katia Zepeda, Sorena Oporta, Stefany Oporta, Yesenia Oporta-Jones, Gohn Thompson, and Ethel Thompson, as well as his son, Izaac Leonel Zuniga.
A memorial service will be held at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home on February 4th, 2024, at 2 pm to honor and remember Elmer's life.
