Germaine P. Kirby

Germaine was a lifelong resident of Groves. She was a charter member of the Altar Society of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She loved to sew, cook, socialize and travel. She was active in both her daughters’ activities as they were growing up, volunteering and helping with Blue Birds, 4-H and PTA. She and her late husband were members of the Why Not Club and square dance members of the Swinging Squares.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald C. Kirby; her parents; 2 brothers, Wilbert “PeeWee” Provost; Francis Provost and a sister, Deloris Honish.

Her survivors include her 2 daughters, Hazel Campbell and husband Sonny of Port Arthur, Deborah McFarland of Lafayette, LA; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Barbara Cuellar for her dedicated care of Germaine for the past five years. In addition the daughters express their thanks to Hospice for their attention and care of their mother.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, October 7, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, Port Arthur.

Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
