Henrietta “Mutzi” Lopez, 81 of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on January 21, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. Mutzi was born on July 20, 1944, in Albany California to the late Jose “Rosendo” P. Lopez and Cruz Cortez Lopez and was raised in Port Arthur, Texas.
In 1962, when she married Nick, Mutzi began a long life dedicated to caring for others. She was devoted to Nick, co-owner of City Signs, Inc, and a loving mother to Nicky and Bryan. Mutzi’s faith called her to discern an additional vocation of teaching the Catholic Faith She impacted many souls during her over 40 years as a Religious Education Director in the Beaumont Diocese.
Mutzi was full of energy and loved to spend time with her family and take trips with her dear friends. When she retired, she enjoyed being a grandmother and great-grandmother, never ceasing loving and serving others. One of the younger members of the Lopez clan recently said, “If the smiling heart emoji could be a person, it would be Mutzi!”
Mutzi is preceded in death by her dear husband Nick Lopez Sr., her parents Jose “Rosendo” P. Lopez and Cruz Cortez Lopez; her siblings, Rodolfo “Rudy” Lopez, Hermenia “Mimi” Taylor, and Ruben Lopez.
She is survived by her sons Nick Lopez Jr. and Bryan Lopez; daughters-in-law Karen Lopez and Damarilis Lopez; her sister Carolyn Darby; brothers Rosendo “Chendo” Lopez, Ramon Lopez, and Ricardo “Richie” Lopez; 9 grandchildren, 3 great- grandchildren and beloved extended family and friends.
A rosary will be held at 5 PM on January 28 ,2026 followed by visitation until 8 PM at Grammier Oberle, 4841 39th St. Port Arthur, TX 77642. A Funeral Mass will be at 11 AM on January 29 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder Ave, Beaumont ,TX 77702. Burial will immediately follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City Hwy, Groves, TX 77619
