It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joe Mac Hearne, age 61, of San Antonio, Texas, who departed this life peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2025. Born in Port Arthur, Texas, Joe was the beloved son of Sue McBride Hearne and Robert Hearne, and the light he brought to those around him will never be forgotten.
Joe lived a life filled with love, laughter, and purpose. A devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, Joe found his greatest joy in his family. He is survived by his children: Robert John Hearne, Kathryn Hearne-Church and her husband Stephen, and Kelli Vincent and her husband Richard. His proudest title was “Pop,” given to him by his beloved granddaughter, Reagan Vincent. Joe also leaves behind his father, Robert Hearne; his sister, Mary Hearne; his nephew, Scot Hearne; and a large extended family who will continue to cherish his memory.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Sue McBride Hearne.
Joe had a gift for making people feel at ease. Whether it was his easy-going nature, his booming laugh, or the way he could turn a simple fishing trip into an unforgettable adventure, Joe made every moment count. An avid outdoorsman, he found peace and happiness in nature and spending time with his family at the beach—especially with a fishing pole in hand or out in the field hunting. He was also a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, always cheering on his team through every season with unwavering loyalty.
To know Joe was to love him. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back, listen without judgment, and always make you laugh—even on your worst day. His legacy is one of love, resilience, and the kind of joy that only comes from a life lived fully and sincerely.
