

Joseph “Joe” H. Thomas, 88, of Bridge City, formerly of Port Arthur, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Joseph was born August 8, 1923, in Port Arthur to the late Tufic and Frocenia Thomas and raised by his father and maternal grandmother, “Siti” Sharbel.
Joe is described by his loving wife as the kindest, most honest and gentle person that she had ever met. Joe was a loving husband, devoted father and proud grandfather. Joe was an avid fisherman and was a passionate sports fan. Joe enjoyed fast pitch softball and was a very good pitcher. His hobbies included woodworking and repairing watches.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and sister, Adma McCants.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years, Mary Lou Thomas; son, Kirk Thomas of Seabrook; daughters, Sherry Featherston and her husband Tom of Waco; Lynn Latiolais and her husband Tim of Bridge City; Terri “Petey” James and her husband Steven of Bridge City; brother, George Thomas and his wife Len of San Antonio; grandchildren, Amy Potts and her husband Mark of Houston; Carrie Marable and her husband Brandon of Waco; Toby Latiolais and his wife Rene of Bridge City; Trey Latiolais and his wife Niki of Dripping Springs; Troy Latiolais and his wife Jennifer of Kerrville; Todd Latiolais of Houston ; Lauren James and Emily James of Bridge City; and seven great grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Arthur. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in honor of Joseph Thomas to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Port Arthur.
