Muriel Janet Jackson

Muriel Janet Jackson, 69, of Port Neches, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015. She was born Dec. 21, 1945 in Port Arthur to the late Henry W. Nelson, Jr. and Essie Swearingen Nelson. She was known as Janet and attended DeQueen Elementary and Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur. She retired from Eddins Bennett Law Firm in Beaumont where she worked as a bookkeeper. Janet was an active member of Triangle Baptist Church in Nederland and was involved in Sunday School, AWANAS, choir and other programs. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert (Bob) L. Jackson; daughter, Deborah Barnes and husband Jeff of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; son, Robert L. Jackson II and wife Aries of Honolulu, Hawaii; son, Kevin Jackson and wife Tina of Nederland, Texas; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and brother, Richard Nelson of Newton, Texas. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Triangle Baptist Church, 3605 Hwy 69N, Nederland, Texas (across from Sports Connection). Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 11:00am in the Sanctuary of Triangle Baptist Church with Dr. Brice Mandaville and Brother Kenneth Leavins officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Triangle Baptist Church.
