Phyllis Theresa Duhe Guidry, 93, of Port Arthur, TX, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022. She was born in Lutcher, Louisiana to the late Dennis and Nelka Schexnayder Duhe. As a young lady, Phyllis worked as a switchboard operator while attending Port Arthur College. She married her beloved husband, Simon Guidry, Jr. in 1947 who preceded her death in 1996. Phyllis was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a kind and generous woman who worked hard to provide for her husband and family. Phyllis concentrated on being a homemaker and raising her children and loved watching her large family grow as she became a grandmother and great-grandmother. After raising her family, Phyllis spent countless hours volunteering at St. Mary’s Hospital as a Pink Lady and at St. James Catholic Church with the Alter Society, as a Eucharistic Minister, and member of the Choir. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Simon Guidry, Jr.; daughters, Phyllis Ann, Theresa Ann, and Nelwyn Louise Guidry Williams; granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Williams; parents, Dennis and Nelka Schexnayder Duhe; siblings, James Duhe, Lane Duhe, Gene Duhe, and Jackie Prince. Left to cherish her memory include her children: Tommy Guidry, Bobby (Pam) Guidry, Lynn (Jay) Redd, Judy Guidry Weber, and Ellie (Tim) Royer. Her grandchildren: Matthew (Lacy) Williams, Jeremy (Nia) Williams, Laura (Josh) Gould, Stephanie Wappler, Stuart Wappler, Stacy Wappler (Robert Copeland), Keely (Chris) Travis, Mindy (Brad) Dorr, Taylor Guidry, Paden (Kelly) Weber, Erin (Kevin) Pitts, Christy (Neal) Smith, Jaryd Royer, and Jordain Royer. Her great-grandchildren: Harmony, Elizabeth, Zackary, Jaiden, Amelia, Scott, Brittany, Skylar, Makenna, Bensen, Drew, Nadine, Braden, Logan, Charlie, Theodore, Tristan, Taryn, Kyler, and Olive. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Sylvia Duhe, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Visitation will be at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur, TX on Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 pm with the rosary prayer service beginning at 7:30 pm. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 am on Friday, January 28, 2022 at St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur, TX. Active Pallbearers will include grandsons: Matthew Williams, Jeremy Williams, Stuart Wappler, Taylor Guidry, Paden Weber, and Jaryd Royer. Honorary Pallbearers: Chris Travis, Brad Dorr, Josh Gould, and Neal Smith Phyllis will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Memorial Park alongside her husband Simon. Her family was truly blessed to have this wonderful mother and woman in their lives and to have so many wonderful memories to carry in their hearts. She will be deeply missed and leaves behind her legacy to live by as we continue with our lives. The family would like to thank Victor, Joann, Debbie, Sara, Kristin, and Dee, along with the staff of Kindred Hospice Care. We appreciate all the support received during this special journey.
