

Rose Mae Romero of Port Arthur, TX, passed away on March 8, 2023, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Rose was born on November 13, 1931, to Robert and Nolia Green Dore. She had two sisters, Mable and Mae, and her brother Andrew. She married John “PeeWee” Romero on May 29, 1948. They had seven children: Julie, Clifford, Linda, Gary, Mona, Cheryl, and John Jr. She shared PeeWee’s passion for hunting and fishing, particularly deer and quail hunting in West Texas. Together, they opened Romero’s Glass Co. in April 1961. After PeeWee suffered a stroke in 1999, she continued to work while caring for him until his death in 2006. She loved the business and visiting with the customers. She was awarded Business of the Year in 2017 and Small Business Person of the Year in 2018 by the Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce. Rose continued to work full-time until she was 88. Her work ethic and service to others were unmatched. Rose was a true example of strength, dedication, loyalty, and selflessness. She had a servant’s heart and was always willing to help others.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, John (PeeWee), and her children, Julie, Linda, and Clifford.
She is survived by her children Gary Romero, Mona Doyle and husband Dan, Cheryl Kahclamat, John Romero, Jr and wife Cheree’, and daughter in law, Becky Romero, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Mae Lege and Mable Mason, and her special Breaux Bridge family.
The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until 2:00 PM on Friday March 17, 2023 at Grammier Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00PM. Rose will be interred at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
