

Seabourne Stokes, Jr., 69, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Monday, October 11, 2010, at Renaissance Hospital in Groves. Mr. Stokes was born June 1, 1941, in Port Arthur to Seabourne and Frances Stokes. He was employed many years at Sears in shipping & receiving. He was an avid coin collector and sang in the choir at St. James for many years. He was always ready to help others and always had a “recipe” or word of good cheer to share with friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alberta Blanchet Stokes.
He is survived by his mother, Frances Stokes Schwartzenburg of Billings, Montana; step-sons, Roger Conway, Jr., of Orange, Texas and Bruce Conway of New Mexico; step-daughter, Kathleen (Kathy) Valka of Groves; brother, Thomas Stokes; sister, Nancy Short of Bryan, Texas; sister-in-law, Marie (Mickie) Fanette of Nederland, Texas; “adopted” granddaughter, Darian Valka and all of his friends at Sabine Title in Orange and at Magnolia Manor in Groves.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 12 noon on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur or to the Humane Society of S.E. Texas in Beaumont.
